Getting your very British chocolate fix
Getting your very British chocolate fix
I'm sure after Easter weekend we all still have chocolate on the brain so why not indulge a little further in some proudly UK-made chocolate. There are a growing number of home-grown and independent brands each with their own take on chocolate, whether it’s pushing the boundaries of flavours, promoting independent artists or even to pressing for better pay for cacao farmers. There’s never been more choice nor a better time to treat yourself to some delicious chocolate made right here in the UK. Here are just a few of our favourites…
Coco Chocolatier (Edinburgh, Scotland)
Coco Chocolatier creates a wide range of delicious chocolate products from ethically sourced cocoa beans, but that’s only half the story. They also collaborate with artists for all their enticing packaging. It’s a win-win resulting in chocolate bars that stand out from the crowd whilst giving artists an opportunity to showcase their cool, creative art.
Chocolarder (Falmouth, England)
Chocolarder have launched a zero-carbon footprint chocolate bar called Arhuaco. The coco beans are sail shipped from Columbia into Falmouth Harbour, less than a mile from their factory. That seems as good a reason as any to give their chocolate a try!
Chocolates of Glensheil (Kyle, Scotland)
Lovingly made in the highlands of Scotland, Finlay Macdonald has been inspired by his surroundings and incorporates locally sourced ingredients into his chocolate. Haggis Spice, Skye Sea Salt and Scottish Tablet are just a few of the enticing flavours on offer.
Land Chocolate (East London, England)
Leaving his job in a BBC production office, Phil Landers ventured across Central America and found the inspiration he was after in a cacao field. It wasn’t long before Land Chocolate was born and the whole process from bean-to-bar takes place in a small East London workshop. This is genuinely fine chocolate of the very highest standard.
BB Chocolate (Alloa, Scotland)
Located just a few minutes from where our pyjama collection is made, BB Chocolate creates artisan chocolates for special occasions. Their small batch production ensures they are always fresh and made with genuine care.
Duffy’s (Humberston, England)
Lincolnshire chocolatier, Duffy’s, has been producing chocolate since 2011. Beans are sourced from different plantations all over the world including Venezuela, Guatemala and Honduras. Their chocolate has been award-winning right from the beginning when their Honduras Indio Rojo 72% bar was awarded the Golden Bean award by the Academy of Chocolate.
Enjoy! (Andover, England)
And one for all the vegan's out there...we all enjoy the sweet treat of chocolate and Enjoy! have made it even it more accessible as all their chocolate bars are vegan and made from 100% organic ingredients. From Velvety Vanilla and Opulent Orange to Captivating Coconut and Magical Mint, you’ll be sure to find the one to make your taste buds tingle.
