The world’s longest-running children’s programme, Blue Peter, is challenging children and their families to get sponsored to wear their pyjamas during the day for BBC Children in Need.

The television show, an institution in the UK, is encouraging people to host pyjama parties, wear their pjs at school or even organise a sponsored nightwear walk. If you can work out a way to raise money by wearing your pjs then give it a shot!

Inspiration for fundraising activities can be found in the intriguingly named pyjamas from the PJ Pan collection which include; School Run, Midnight Feast, Chick Flick, Pyjama Party, Duvet Day and Girly Night In! We even have matching pyjamas for the whole family.

“There are loads of things you could do – maybe you could get sponsored to go to Scouts or Guides in your pyjamas!” said Harry Styles of the hit boy band One Direction.

On 8 November, Blue Peter will be attempting to beat a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing one-piece pyjamas in a live world record attempt filmed at the Blue Peter studios at Salford Quays. The current record stands at 309 participants.

The programme’s presenters, Helen Skelton and Barney Harwood will then attempt to get on as many TV and radio shows as possible to talk about the appeal for 24 hours on 12 and 13 November.

Helen Skelton, who has presented Blue Peter since 2008, commented, “What could be easier than putting on your pyjamas and doing something unusual to raise money for such a great cause? We can’t wait to see the amazing things that our viewers will to do raise much-needed cash for Children in Need across the UK.”
